In-Person Therapy for Adults in Olney, Maryland
When life gets heavy, stepping into a space designed just for you can make all the difference. In-person therapy at Viewpoint Art Therapy is more than a chair and a conversation. It is a pause, a grounding moment, and a place where you can finally breathe again.
A Calming, Creative Space
My Olney office is designed to feel welcoming and calming, not clinical. Natural light, comfortable chairs, and thoughtful touches invite you to settle in. For those drawn to creativity, a wide range of art materials (paints, pastels, clay, textiles, etc) are available to help you process in ways words alone cannot always reach. Whether you prefer talking, creating, or simply sitting in quiet reflection, this space supports your process.
Why In-Person Therapy?
In a world where so much is virtual, there’s something about physically entering a space devoted entirely to your care. Whether you’re interested in talk therapy, art therapy, or a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and creative approaches, this format sets you up to tune into yourself without the distractions of home or the pressure to switch quickly between tasks.
In-person sessions provide more than just a private space… they offer structure, boundaries, and routine that many find essential for getting the most out of their sessions. Sharing physical space with your therapist allows for richer communication, body language cues, and the experience of being truly seen and supported in real time.
Benefits of In-Person Therapy:
• Private, designated space: A distraction-free environment dedicated solely to your healing and growth.
• All art materials provided: No need to bring anything. Everything you need for creative expression is here.
• Clear boundaries from home life: Stepping into a separate space helps reinforce that this time is for you.
• In-person connection: Benefit from the nuances of face-to-face interaction, enhancing the therapeutic relationship.
• Built-in transition time: The commute to and from in-person therapy creates natural space to mentally prepare before your session and decompress afterward. This way you’re not jumping straight into your next meeting, errand, or task like you might with telehealth. The added buffer can enhance reflection and integration.
• Reduced screen fatigue: For those who spend their workdays online, in-person therapy offers much-needed relief from digital overload.
Whether you’re interested in traditional talk therapy, art therapy, or a blend of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and creative work, in-person sessions offer a space to reconnect with yourself, your emotions, and your goals.
Who Benefits from In-Person Sessions?
Clients who thrive with structure, are navigating emotionally intense topics, or value hands-on creative expression often find in-person therapy to be particularly impactful. If you’re dealing with chronic stress, managing life transitions, exploring identity, or struggling with relational patterns, face-to-face sessions can offer deeper insights and stronger emotional processing.
Considering the Commute? Make the Most of Your Session
Some clients who attend in-person sessions find that an 80-minute session format makes the commute feel more worthwhile. Longer sessions provide extra time to engage in parts work, art-making, or deeper exploration of therapeutic themes without feeling rushed.
Depending on your goals, you might choose to schedule 80-minute sessions weekly for more intensive work, or biweekly to allow time between sessions for reflection and applying insights to daily life. Many clients find that biweekly 80-minute sessions provide meaningful progress while also being a more manageable financial commitment compared with weekly 50-minute sessions.
